About Us

We grew up in the same small town in the West Midlands and went to the same school, but we never met until 2000.  At that time we were both in relationships and met up on social occasions as we had the same group of close friends.  Over several years, our paths crossed many times at birthday parties, games nights, dinner parties and even attended each other’s weddings.  We had always enjoyed each other’s company but it wasn’t until both our marriages broke down and we kept in touch that we realised how much we cared for each other.  We decided to date and see if our friendship was stronger than that.  Well, four years later, we are now engaged and very happy.

In previous years, both of us have had life changing experiences and wanted more than the life that was being mapped out in front of us. Life is short and we are not getting any younger (at 35 & 41). Like many, we were drawn in to the ‘rat race’ going to work to earn just enough money to buy the things that you think you need.  Before you know it, the years slip by and you have not really achieved as much as you would have liked.  We had talked about seeing the world and leaving the stresses of work behind so many times.  Time was passing by and our dreams grew stronger.
Eventually, an opportunity to spend time with my elderly Parents who live in Malta came along.  A decision was made to quit our jobs, go to Malta for a couple of months and then take off to far shores before we missed our chance.  But where do we go?  Finances dictated that we couldn’t do and see everything that we wanted (unless we win the lottery in the mean time!) so we planned to travel across the Far East making our way to Australia and New Zealand before returning back to the UK about 12 months later...
